In girls, pubic hair development (a virilising process) emanates in large part from adrenal gland secretions and does not always occur in concert with breast development (a feminising process) caused by the secretion of oestrogen from the ovaries. Thus, it is best to separate pubic hair development from the breast developmental stage in girls.
